Cracked Teeth

Do your teeth hurt when you bite into an apple? Does the pain disappear right away? Do very cold or hot drinks cause sharp pain? You may have a cracked tooth - a common condition caused by years of biting down on hard objects, teeth clenching and grinding or an accident to the mouth. Cracks may also be the result of heavily filled teeth, or they may develop simply due to aging.

Like cracks in a windshield, cracks in teeth start small and progress slowly. The sooner it is detected and treated, the better the chance of saving your tooth. It's important to distinguish between cracks and craze lines, which are tiny cracks that affect only the outer enamel, are shallow and cause no pain, and are extremely common in adult teeth (especially incisors).

If you have pain when chewing, aching teeth or sensitivity to hot or cold, Dr. Page wants to help you. Call for a fifteen minute complimentary exam and Dr. Page will help you get a comfortable, warm smile in just one or two appointments.
